The technical department of TDF is driving
the activities "Studies and engineering", and "Measurement
and frequencies engineering". It includes R&D centres at
Metz and Rennes.
Its mission is :
- To define the R&D coherent with the strategy
of the TDF group
- To direct and develop the technology intelligence
- To prepare technical evolutions short, and
long dated, and to contribute to the improvement of the competitivity
of TDF offer
- To imagine and to make use of equipment, networks
and systems for doing the new TDF offers
- To garantee TDF knowledge in several domains
: frequencies, measurement, network equipment and systems
- To protect and valorize patent rights of TDF.

TDF R&D inside the Technical Department of TDF
It offers its skills and know-how to both partners and customers.
R&D's services include equipment testing and expert assessments
and reports (TV, radio, GSM, GPRS, UMTS, etc.), special designs
in advanced technologies, and the transfer of specialist know-how
acquired in in-company research. Major industrial companies such
as Thales, Thomson Multimédia and Philips, national and international
organizations, consumer associations, regulatory authorities (CSA,
ANFR, ART and the Ministry of Defense,...), all call on TDF R&D
for its technical excellence and well-known quality approach (ISO
9001) which ensure that all its customers are more than satisfied.

It makes a major contribution to the quality of customer services
through its support for production.
It designs and validates innovations before they are included in
operational processes used by TDF and its subsidiaries. It provides

The
Technical Department innovates to ensure TDF's customers' success
It designs new services to ensure customers success-fully meet
the challenges of the future.
It dedicates a significant part of its efforts to implementing new
systems (digital TV and radio, UMTS, etc.) and defining value added
services based on these systems. TDF R&D develops experimental
network and service platforms that are then offered to its national
and international customers and partners.

The
Technical Department and industry : technological partnerships
It gives priority to exchanges with innovative service companies
in Europe.
It has an ambitious policy of cooperation with radio broad-casting
and radio-communications manufacturers in the fabrication and marketing
of products invented by its design centers. This involves the transfer
of technology and know-how to manufacturers, active participation
in European research programs, and close cooperation with those
standardization authorities that are crucial to TDF's strategy.
