QUALITY OF SERVICE FOR DIGITAL TV SERVICES

General Description
This patented technology is about very synthetic parameters to be measured on a digital television signal (DVB) representing the Quality of Services in DVB environment.
Hundreds of scenarii of test were experimented, representing the behaviour of :
- digital TV network pieces of equipment (DVB-C, S, T, MFN, DFN, ATM,...),
- measurement equipment and relevant parameters to be measured,
- supervision management system and tools.

Thanks to the database build during these tests, internal studies aimed at identifying the very few parameters which may be representative of the Quality of Service for digital television services, transported and distributed by any DVB network.

The main innovative aspects are

- These results have been patented and included in the DVB Measurement Group recommendations, standardised under ETSI : TR 101 290.
- The statistical exploitation of the data base permitted to define 3 parameters representatives of the Service performance, derived from the TS analysis (ETR290) and included in the TR 101 290 chapter 5.5
