INSTALLATION FOR A RADIOCOMMUNICATION NETWORK

Keywords: UMTS - power line transceiver - PLT - optical fiber - coaxial cables - radiocommunication network

General Description
This patented technology relates to a terminal installation for a radiocommunication network.
The installation comprises a primary station consisting of a transmitting and receiving device which is installed in fixed manner on a host site and a communication treatment base which can be connected to the core of the communication network.
The transmitting or receiving device exchanges one or several communications with the communication treatment base.

According to the invention, the exchange of communication between the transmitting or receiving device and the communication treatment base is carried out via a power network supplying them with electric energy.

The main innovative aspects are

- The patent inventiveness relies on the Power Line Transceiver use (such as Lamppost) to deport the base station HF head without significant infrastructure costs.
- It allows to make a radioelectric coverage in urban areas, using the urban furniture fed by the low tension electric network without resorting to an hertzian or wired transmission network.
- In the UMTS case it allows a very high urban densification for a lower cost. Thus it could be identified as a distributed antenna which does not necessary imply to create complementary sites.

The promising potential applications are

- "Inbuilding" in order to allow building coverage (typically offices), high traffic areas for data services.
- "Outdoor" to make up for the lacks of sites in urban areas and for "hot spot" coverage.
